Maize Maze Mitchell Newquay Cornwall TR8
63The Amazing Maize Maze, Mitchell, Newquay, Cornwall, TR8 5AX
The Amazing Maize Maze is to be found behind the Plume of Feathers pub in the small village of Mitchell, just 7 miles south of Newquay. The Maize Maze is seasonal and can only be visited from July to September each year as it's a living maze of real maize, grown each year ready for your enjoyment.
A maize maze is a living maze, a field of maize crop that's cut out into the desired shape. Maize mazes have become popular tourist attractions in many places, there are quite a few of them in Cornwall now.
Mazes have been grown and made as a variation of formal garden mazes in the gardens of large castles and palaces for a few centuries now. By the 19th century mazes became very popular attractions for entertainment value and were regularly to be found in parks and public places.Maize mazes have become more common and popular in England in the last 20 years.
As with any maze, a maize maze will have a path which you need to find and to follow, that wends its way across the plot, and it's your role to find your way out of it again.
And the best bit is that this maize maze is right behind the historic Plume of Feathers pub, ideal for popping in afterwards to relax with a cool drink, or enjoy a fabulous pub lunch.
