Fitness Suite | Pentewan Sands, St Austell

The new fitness suite in Pentewan Sands Holiday Park is ideally placed for locals, or even if you're a fitness freak and on holiday - now there's no need to miss out on your regular gym sessions simply because somebody decided you needed a week's relaxation at the coast!

The Bay Fitness Suite is located in the holiday park at Pentewan Sands, just outside St Austell, Cornwall, so parking isn't a problem - and after you've visited the fitness suite you can continue your fitness regime on the beach perhaps, with a short beach run or even some wild swimming in the sea!

This brand new gym at Pentewan Sands has all the latest equipment, state of the art cardiovascular equipment, all the weights you could want or need, giving you the chance to discover:

• cardio and restistance trainers
• weights and free weights sections
• flexibility and core stability zone
• vibration training zone

You can really get a full workout in this state of the art fitness suite.

It's your choice of how you exercise, perhaps you want to walk, or maybe jog - or even run. There's x-training, rowing and cycling too.

But the workouts you can do don't stop there, once you've finished in the actual gym at the fitness suite, you've got more ways to keep fit right on your doorstep because there are also two swimming pools at The Bay Fitness Suite:

• An 18m laps swimming pool - for serious swimmers
  
• A fun pool, with flumes and a jacuzzi - for a spot of fun in the water.

Both pools are heated and have a depth of just 1.2 for safety.

I'm sure there are a lot of you out there thinking "Yeah, but I've never actually been to a gym before" or perhaps you used to go and haven't for awhile.

The Bay Fitness Suite at Pentewan Sands understands that people will need help to get started, to be safe on the equipment - and to know what they're doing, so all members are offered a Free Induction.

For your first session, the fitness experts at the gym will go through all the equipment and your current level of fitness with you, putting together a personalised plan for what's a sensible exercise routine for you. Everybody's different - we can't all run into the gym, leap onto the walking machines, trot out a quick marathon, before running home again!

It's important to know your current level of fitness before recommending what it's safe for you to do. You need to build up, over time, how much exercise you do - and the free induction and personalised fitness plan does that for you.

Of course, all this exercise is bound to build up a healthy appetite - and it's unfortunate that most of us do tend to simply treat ourselves after exercise. I like to view it as 'walking it off' before I've eaten it :)

There's a great restaurant at The Bay Fitness Suite, called The Crow's Nest. You'll find this on the first floor of the Seahorse Centre.
